The Susie Straight Band is the brainchild of Susie Straight (Duh!) and a group of her extremely talented musical cohorts. The passion for music runs through all of us and we live to share it with our audience.
Founder Susie Straight has been singing and playing music since she was a young child. Some of her earliest memories include singing Folk music around campfires with family and family friends (Very Kum-Bay-Ya). Everyone played guitar, so Susie, ever the individualist, had to play harmonica to be different.
Susie started taking harmonica and voice lessons in her late 20’s and played with every Blues band who would have her. As she grew as a musician, she found herself playing more Western Swing, Jazz Standards and Rockabilly and less Blues, although Blues still holds a special place in her heart.
Ever the entertainer, Susie sings, plays harmonica, percussion, Zydeco Rub Board and ukulele. And she does a mean Betty Boop impression.
